Banner S4B is a Type 4 safety light curtain for guarding hazardous machine areas - with 14 mm resolution for finger detection or 30 mm resolution for hand detection. Defined area lengths run from 300 to 1800 mm, with an operating range of 0.1 to 12 m. The beams reach the very ends of the housing, so there is no blind zone at either end.

On the new-generation S4B receivers (FID 4) the end cap is lighted, so status is visible from any angle: green - beams clear and aligned, yellow - weak signal, red - blocked beam or significant misalignment.

Status indication 360°
The lighted end cap and the zone indicators along the housing show which section is blocked or weakly aligned. Setup and troubleshooting need no PC.

IO-Link diagnostics
The last 10 faults are stored in persistent memory, blocked-beam data is available (for example pallet height or open box detection), and up to nine user-defined indication states can be set.

Automatic cascade
Up to four pairs of different lengths and resolutions connect in series, and S4B recognises the next curtain automatically. Colour-coded cordsets - yellow between curtains, black to the controller.

Weak signal warning
When the window gets dirty or the curtain slowly drifts out of alignment, S4B sends a weak beam signal via pin 5 to the PLC or HMI - maintenance can be done before the curtain stops the machine..

Denser beam spacing for workstations where the operator's hands are close to the hazard.

30 mm - hand protection

Shorter response time and fewer beams over the same length - from workstations to large machine cells.

N8 contact cable

the receiver monitors the contactors (EDM) itself, a separate safety module is not needed

Reduced resolution

one blocked beam is ignored, but the outputs turn off if two or more beams are blocked; turns on with two DIP switches

Fixed beam blanking

stationary parts of the equipment may be in the protected area

Muting sets in L, T, and X shapes

rigid shoulders with Q20 sensors for moving materials and pallets through the protected area
