Why traditional level measurement methods may not be effective?

Low material density and uneven compression:

EPS and similar materials settle and compact at the bottom of the silo, creating a denser layer where mechanical sensors can operate accurately.

However, the higher the level in the silo, the lower the compression of the material, which can lead to inaccurate readings and erroneous level warnings.

Fabric (textile) silos - non-standard design:

EPS and similar products are often stored in textile silos because they are flexible, easy to transport and suitable for these materials.

However, this flexibility complicates the installation of traditional level sensors, as the weight of the sensors can cause the structure to tip, leading to measurement errors.

The Solution: Integrating rotary paddle and vibrating fork technologies

To effectively meet the challenges of level measurement in EPS and other low-density bulk material silos, a combination of two sensors is used to provide accurate and reliable level control.

Low level detection uses a rotating vane that works effectively in low density environments. Its mechanical rotation principle allows the presence of material in the lower part of the silo, where the material is denser and more compacted, to be accurately detected. In addition, its lightweight design and special rubber blade coating make it the ideal solution for textile silos, reducing the bowing of the silo walls.

High level detection uses a vibro-drop that provides reliable measurements even in dusty environments and on light materials. It is particularly sensitive to low-density materials, which can cause difficulties for other sensors at higher silo levels. Vibration technology and Vibrasil 90 coating reduce the risk of dust settling and material adhesion, ensuring accurate measurements and safe process control.
