Safety Monitoring on a Case Packer

Application Overview:

A packaging manufacturer needed to ensure that access doors on a high-speed case packer were monitored reliably without interrupting production. Frequent operator access and rapid machine cycles made traditional interlock methods ineffective and prone to wear.

Solution:

Implemented SI-RF series RFID safety switches on each guard door for tamper-resistant access monitoring.
Enabled in-series diagnostics (ISD) to connect multiple switches on a single input chain.
Integrated the switch chain into a SC10-2ROE safety controller, providing real-time diagnostics and simplified wiring.
